Managing the Skid.

Imagine you are driving your favourite car along a wonderful set of S-bends along a coastal road.

On your left, there’s a sheer drop to the rocks and crashing waves below.

On your right, there’s a sheer face of rock soaring upwards.

You are having a great time.

However, you get a bit enthusiastic hitting a right hand corner…and your back wheels start to skid out to the left, getting dangerously close to the cliff.

Which way do you steer your wheel?  To the left…or to the right?

If you steer to the right, away from the skid, you will make the skid worst and you will end up off the cliff, back wheels first.

The right answer is to steer to the left, heading into the scary direction of where the skid is going…and in doing so, regain control of the back wheels and then steer right.  You will have then safely managed your skid and you will continue on your way, heart pumping, but whole and undamaged.

This works in your life too – all sorts of situations that you really don’t like, if you steer away from them, try and escape them…you will end up stuck or at worst case scenario; crashing and burning.

The trick is to choose that you have put yourself in this situation.

You imagine that if you were in total control of your life…why would you choose this situation?

Ask this sincerely and wait for your answer.

That oftentimes is enough for you to gain traction and steer yourself out of your skid.

Try it and let me know what happens.

The Challenge of Change…and Climate Change.

The Australian government’s video on “The Challenge of Change” does a great job of engaging people in the conversation; “What do I want the next 40 years in Australia to be about?” See below.

However, in the video below, the presenter, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki informs us that he regrets doing the interview.  What is he concerned about?

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Your Fear Kills Your Dreams Before They Have a Chance.

You’ll be pleased to know that I’m using my own work on myself.

Yes, I’ve been working on reducing and wiping out the stress, that shuts down my immune system and stops me from getting started in my projects.  More about that later.

What I want to share with you today is an amazing entrepreneur who absolutely nails fear in his talk in the video below.

His name is Vinod Khosla, he is blunt, inspiring and very revealing about the future of business enterprise in the world.  He admits in the video that some people see him as being arrogant.
